Hi !

Welcome to this week’s edition!

The new year is fully in action, and while resolutions may be losing steam, let’s talk about something far more powerful: Momentum.

What’s In It For You:

  • How momentum wins over resolutions and motivation.

  • Three creative, leadership-specific momentum-building strategies.

  • A guided 3-day challenge to spark action and alignment.

Let’s Reflect:

Take a moment to pause and ask yourself:

  • Do your current actions align with your big-picture goals?

  • Are you moving intentionally, or are you just ‘busy?’

  • What’s one area where you’ve stalled, despite your best intentions?

Momentum means choosing progress, regardless of how micro these are, and it’s time to discover how to find yours.

Insight: Why Resolutions Fade but Momentum Sticks

I won’t claim that ‘Over 80% of resolutions fail by February’ as this is a generalisation based on an article that claimed ‘by some estimates,’ so I’m not taking their word for it.

But I reckon that figure remains over 50% by the end of the year, so it’s still a cause for concern.

Resolutions typically focus on big goals and outcomes, whereas momentum focuses on systems.

Systems are the scaffolding that keeps you moving, even when enthusiasm and motivation take a backseat.

And we know how easy life events can throw you off your motivation and enthusiasm.

Momentum is built into everyday decisions that seem small but compound over time.

It’s a mindset shift from committing to the prize to the process instead.

"You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step." — Martin Luther King Jr.

Three Momentum-Building Strategies for Leaders

Let’s get into three strategies that help develop systems that are sustainable.

  1. Delegate The Scary

Instead of delegating what’s easy, try delegating what’s scary.

Think of one high-stakes responsibility you’ve been hoarding.

Hand it off to a capable team member and set clear parameters for success to ensure accountability and tangibility.

Why it works:

  • It forces you to trust your team. Side note: Ideally, you should already be at this point!

  • It creates leadership opportunities that inspire growth.

  • It frees your mental bandwidth for strategic thinking.

  1. Work Within Your Energy Peaks

Your energy isn’t linear throughout the day, and your work habits shouldn’t be either.

Map your energy peaks and dips throughout the day.

This doesn’t have to be complicated. Just take notes of times where you feel you have peaks and where you have dips.

Use your peaks for high-impact tasks (strategy, problem-solving) and your dips for maintenance work (emails, scheduling).

Why it works:

  • Maximising energy creates momentum without exhaustion.

  • Aligning tasks with your natural rhythms boosts both productivity and creativity.

  1. Stack Micro-Commitments Into Macro-Momentum

Big changes are built on tiny, intentional actions.

Choose one micro-commitment this week, such as:

  • Start each day with a two-minute deep-breathing exercise to centre yourself.

  • Declutter one area of your workspace for a more focused environment.

  • Turn off notifications during a key meeting to be fully present.

Why it works:

  • Small actions are easier to sustain and harder to abandon.

  • They help you feel a sense of achievement, fuelling your desire to keep going.

Reflection Time: Your Momentum Audit

Let’s get intentional and write the following down:

  • Delegate: What’s one responsibility you’ve been hesitant to pass on?

  • Energy Peaks: How can you align tomorrow’s tasks with your natural rhythms?

  • Micro-Commitments: What’s one tiny action you’ll commit to this week?

Write these down. Better yet, reply to this email and share them with me; I’d love to hold you accountable.
